Good Bye (Buy) Medium Gathering Basket

- Holds magazines.
- Use on top of your fridge for snacks.
- Will easily hold two loaves of bread.
- VHS tapes (does anyone have these) or DVD's or CD's
- Great for video gaming stuff
- 9x13 baking dish w/cover fits inside for easy transport. The wood is a natural insulator so your food will stay hot longer in a basket.
- In/Out mail
- Fill as a centerpiece. Gourds and pumpkins are beautiful in the fall. Bulbs and greenery for Christmas.
- Flower or veggie picking basket. This was originally designed to fit in between the rows for picking. Longaberger family called it the "pick and kick" basket. Yes! Use it outside!
- I often use it for buffets, filled with ice and CROCKS (see my blogs), bowls or a pie plate.
Goodbye old friend, you've served me well!

Retirement Party

Bedroom Update

I've been working in the back bedroom for the last couple of days. It was the "dumping grounds" for anything we wanted out of sight. I wanted this to be a nice area for over- night guests, but it's also our spare computer room, my Longaberger office and craft room. I really wanted to use khaki check for the bedroom and found a few accessories but couldn't afford Longaberger's price for a bedspread/comforter, although I did really like it. I found this one at JCPenney. It's part of the American Living collection and a JCPenney just happened to open very close to my house about 1 1/2 years ago. I saw this collection and instantly felt like this could be a great alternative. Luckily I was able to watch as this set went 50% off, 65% off, and finally clearanced. I used their entire set and added khaki check to the gatehouse basket to hang on the bedside, and have khaki check valances with blinds on the window. I have my Longaberger paperwork station set up under the window with three catalog baskets with copies of Your Success and the Collector Club Signatures magazines. On the second shelf you'll see I have the file basket w khaki check with various papers. Next to it is the Desktop basket with other various Longaberger items. The bottom shelf has two of the Sort & Store bin dividers in khaki check. They needed a little support, so I purchased a couple "cheap" baskets at TJMaxx to use just as fillers to help them keep their shape. One is holding past Longaberger Notebooks and I haven't a use (yet) for the other one. In between I purchased some black upright magazine holders to hold some magazines I like to keep. The desktop is organized with the pen pal basket and a lamp with a "faux" khaki check shade that I pieced together from part rummage and part Target. Of course, I placed the basket photo above the desk. I love this print. I'm still working on the closet re-do and I'll take a picture of that also. By just going in there for an hour or so everyday, I get motivated to keep working in there to finish it off. It's turning out great. Let me know your comments and suggestions.

Summer Brights - Now Halloween Brights!

I recently bought the set of four Summer Brights Baskets (item #62131 set of 4 - $90) as an easy way to provide two birthday gifts. After seeing Susie Evan's demo at the Longaberger Convention, I decided I had to have this set and to be creative in using it for Halloween decorating...my favorite theme. The baskets came yesterday and I brought up a few pieces from the Halloween tub of decorating items I've accumulated over the years. I found the best napkin in fall colors at World Market (but only one sadly) for $1.00 and will use that somehow in my display. These can also be purchased separately, item #11819? for $29, but the set of four brings the price down to $22.50 each. I also ordered the single crock, item #31579?, in Ebony for those Halloween treats like candy corn, but Eggplant would look good too. Sadly, these are going away after many years, so if you like them as much as I do, get those extra colors now. Hope Longaberger changes their minds and keeps them around. I do have paprika, butternut, sage, cornflower and ivory and mix and match them for whatever season I'm in on the old three tier candleholder stand. These aren't just for candles tho. I'm thinking craft supplies or pens, pencils, scissors, makeup supplies, toothbrushes, silverware, straws, candies, or a plant. Hope this inspires you to order a set and be creative too. Be sure to share photos. go to www.longaberger.com/wendywiech to order now.
